The Team

This role sits within a small, highly collaborative, and fast-paced team that plays a key role in delivering live opportunities for a broad range of clients. You will work closely with internal departments, including Artist Management, Marketing, Press, Data Analysis, and Finance, as well as with external partners, to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of all bookings. With a strong focus on teamwork, and attention to detail, the team operates in an environment where clear communication and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Live Booking Agent you will need to be proactive, organised, and commercially minded. This is a full-circle role, offering end-to-end involvement in the booking process – from initial planning to post-show follow-up – working closely with both talent and venues to ensure the smooth delivery and commercial success of live gigs, tours, and previews.

You will build strong relationships with performers, venue programmers, and promoters to identify and secure the right spaces for our acts – negotiating fees, booking terms, technical riders, travel, and accommodation where needed. You will collaborate with internal Marketing, Digital, and Press teams to drive ticket sales, constantly keeping a close eye on sales and stepping up promotional efforts when required.

The role may include attending gigs and productions to provide on-the-ground support for both the client and the venue. Most importantly, you’ll oversee post-show follow-up — ensuring that invoicing and payment collection processes are completed smoothly so that acts are paid promptly and correctly.
A key focus of this role will include:
  • Booking one-off gigs, mini-tours, and full tours, with an emphasis on universities, arts centres, and theatres across the UK.
  • Arranging warm-up shows and previews ahead of major tours or the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Initially, you will work closely with the Head of Department for training and guidance, but as your experience grows, you will take greater ownership of your bookings and manage projects more independently.

Specific Duties
  • Issuing contracts and riders for gigs to the venues and artists and ensuring that they are signed and returned in good time.
  • Raising invoices for gigs and actively chasing payments to ensure acts are paid promptly and correctly.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for venues, tour managers and acts to make sure they have all the necessary information for the gig before and following up afterwards to resolve any issues or queries.
  • Coordinating marketing for gigs working with our social media and digital team in conjunction with the press and marketing department to maximise promotional reach.
  • Monitoring ticket sales figures and working proactively with the venues and our internal press and marketing department, with the ultimate goal of selling out each gig booked.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing venues while identifying and developing new venue opportunities to expand our live circuit, and the acts that they book.
  • Building relationships with acts (those managed by Avalon and those not) with a view to booking gigs for them.
  • Liaising regularly with the artist management department regarding tour plans, potential opportunities and wider strategic considerations for current and prospective clients.
  • Attending and supporting the smooth running of live shows and productions in London and across the UK, providing on-site assistance as required.
  • Last, but not least, you will be responsible for the general administration of artist and tour files, ensuring that information is always up to date and accurately recorded.

About You
  • A genuine passion for comedy and live entertainment.
  • Strong negotiation skills; prior sales experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly numerate, with a good working knowledge of Excel and a readiness to learn in-house systems, processes, and databases quickly.
  • Flexible approach and willingness to work outside of standard office hours as the role requires (for example, attending shows).

  • Income protection scheme
  • Life assurance
  • Pension scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Competitive holiday allowance
