Senior Executive
THE ROLE

The SVP, Business Affairs, will play a central role across Avalon’s US operations, supporting the talent management and television production business across a wide range of film, television, and digital projects.
This is a senior, hands-on position responsible for structuring, negotiating, and overseeing a broad range of entertainment and corporate transactions. Working closely with senior leadership, managers, production, and finance teams, the role provides commercially focused guidance and supports decision-making across the business.
This position operates at the center of deal-making and project execution, leading complex negotiations, advising on contractual matters, and ensuring agreements are structured and executed effectively across Avalon’s US slate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Act as a senior business partner to managers and executives, providing strategic guidance on deal strategy and commercial positioning.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including talent (on-camera, writing, directing, and producing), development, and production agreements.
  • Lead business and legal affairs across Avalon’s US operations, taking ownership of key transactions and commercial agreements.
  • Structure and negotiate complex talent-driven deals across development and production.
  • Act as counsel to senior leadership on critical legal, regulatory, and commercial matters.
  • Partner closely with executives, managers, production, and finance teams to support deal-making and project execution.
  • Oversee legal and business affairs support for the talent management business, including ensuring clients are engaged under appropriate management agreements and advising on client-related matters.
  • Oversee general corporate legal matters across Avalon’s US entities.
  • Support and advise on financing-related matters in connection with productions, including reviewing and structuring related agreements as needed.
  • Draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including vendor, services, and production-related contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, guild agreements, including SAG, WGA, and DGA.
  • Own and lead internal legal and business affairs infrastructure, including agreement templates, policies, deal tracking systems, and best practices.
ABOUT YOU 

The successful candidate will be a senior business affairs professional with significant experience across film and television, able to operate with a high degree of autonomy while partnering with executives, managers, and clients. This role requires a commercially minded and pragmatic approach, with the ability to navigate complex deals, provide clear guidance, and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment. They will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities, while contributing as a trusted partner across Avalon’s US business. The role requires the following experience and capabilities:
 
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one US state bar (California preferred).
  • 8-12 years of experience in Film and television at a management company, studio, or production company.
  • Significant experience leading and negotiating complex deals across development and production.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take ownership of high-value transactions.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills, with strong commercial instincts.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to balance legal, financial, and creative considerations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to grow and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to manage matters simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of accuracy and precision in reviewing and managing complex agreements.
